I promised music on Oct. 16th
It is now Dec. 31st. My apologies to ajuh and isyi :)
I wish I could say "here it is" but I can't - yet again I must say the dreadful words "coming soon". The connection I'm on would make the transfer process an eternity.
I'll be on a high-speed connection this Friday, so Phil Wickham and Shane & Shane shall be posted soon (yes, I know the teaser didn't hide much haha).
I feel as though I've lost touch with this blog. It was originally supposed to be an online repository of my thoughts and reflections during my stay in Afghanistan. Well if you know me, you know what happened with that.
So here this blog is, in an awkward and becomingly stagnant transition into a music/photo/movie blog that has no firm foundation at all.
It'll get better. With time.
Happy New Years to all.
And to you, 2007 - thanks for being full of surprises - it helps us all feel alive.
there is too much great music in the world.

I've unpacked most of my things during the course of the past week, and Cheng (my roommate) and I have a bit of "decorating" left to do.
for all two of you that read this, thanks for visiting :] More pictures from Chicago and first few days of school to come soon (hopefully).

unfiltered singing
I had a paragraph written on the vocal and lyrical talents of Ray Lamontagne and promptly deleted it knowing that this does the job just as well:
This man can sing.
I'm not talking Michael Buble or Josh Groban sing, I'm talking about words of pain and hope from the heart, so real, to convince you he's been in the deepest of deeps of suffering yet still manages to see the beauty in life type of sing.
ok. enough of that.
have a listen.
let me know what you think on aim, in person, on facebook - if the response is positive, I'll post some more :]

new music
I've had Oren Lavie on my sticky of music to check out for a couple of months now. I've heard his new and first album "Opposite Side of the Sea" and can only say that I'm super dismayed that the album hasn't been released state-side and doesn't seem like it will ever be for now. Luckily, iTunes had it - much better alternative to paying $30.00 to import it in from the UK, right?
Oren Lavie apparently grew up in Israel and has traveled around the world since.
"In 2001 Oren Lavie moved to New York where he tried to make a living by means of various jobs and where he focused on writing songs. When they had piled up he went to Berlin (2003) and started to do recordings, working as his own producer. His first album, "The Opposite Side of the Sea", was completed in 2006; it was released in Europe January and February 2007." - wikipedia.com
Check him out:
